The Forgotten God

The Forgotten God is the Nameless Below — an ancient absence beneath Astryon’s memory, older than the Astral Tree’s grace and feared not because it kills, but because it erases. It is the hunger after passage fails, the silence where names rot into nothing, the patient dark that does not conquer with armies, but waits until kingdoms, bloodlines, prayers, and grief forget what they once belonged to.

Affiliation:None in the mortal sense. The Forgotten God does not belong to crown, temple, order, or cult; those things belong to history, and history is only one more thing it can hollow out. Its oldest traces are tied to the vanished death-cults of the Age of Shadows, the First Thresholders, forbidden pre-Veil priesthoods, and the black theology of erasure that existed before the Astral Tree gave passage its grace. By pact, wound, or consequence, its shadow also stains the Silent Veil — not as a patron openly worshiped, but as the darkness Arawn bargained near, the absence the Lanterns may have been forged to resist, and the old Below that still waits wherever memory fails.
Status:Forgotten, denied, and returning by absence rather than arrival. The Forgotten God has no throne to reclaim and no temple it needs rebuilt; it remains buried beneath memory, root, rite, and fear, present wherever names vanish, graves lose their inscriptions, bloodlines are erased, and the dead fall beyond witness. The Astral Tree did not destroy it — only displaced it — and now, as the Tree withers and the dead grow louder, the Nameless Below is stirring through small impossibilities: reflectionless children, songs losing verses, lanterns burning black, bound souls forgetting their own names, and old powers pressing upward from beneath Umbral Keep. Its status is therefore not “dead,” “banished,” or even truly “sleeping.” It is unremembered but active, patient as the final silence, waiting for Astryon to realize the shadow never left.
