The Archive's Ledger
Terms of Service
Effective September 26, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Peter Brooks for use of Shadows of the Crucible. By reading, collecting or subscribing, you accept them.
1. The Archive and Your Licence to Use It
You may read and enjoy Shadows of the Crucible for personal, non-commercial use. You may not scrape, copy, republish, resell, or feed its contents to AI training systems, and you may not redistribute the archive or access to it.
The archive is a living work in progress. Records, features, rewards and game systems may be added, changed, balanced or withdrawn at any time.
2. Your Account
- Provide accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure.
- You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- One account per person. Accounts are not transferable.
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
Paid tiers are billed monthly in US dollars through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout.
Your tier and its status are recorded on our servers, and that record — not the browser — determines what you are entitled to. We may change subscription prices, and if we do, we will give notice before the change applies to you.
4. Cancellation
You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Your access and benefits continue until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again. Refunds are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.
5. Virtual Currency and Digital Items
Celestium Dust, Fate Cinders, Dominion’s Gambit cards, relics, gear, titles and similar rewards are a limited licence to use digital content within the archive. They are not property, they carry no cash value, and they cannot be transferred, traded or redeemed for money.
We may adjust balances, drop rates, yields and reward values where needed to keep the archive fair and working. Virtual items are forfeited if an account is deleted or terminated, and purchases of virtual currency are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
6. Acceptable Use
- Do not cheat, exploit, automate or duplicate the reward systems, card draws or currency.
- Do not scrape the archive, run bots against it, or attempt to bypass its access controls.
- Do not harass, threaten or impersonate others in the tavern, comments or profiles.
- Do not upload unlawful content, or content you do not have the right to post.
- Do not interfere with the operation of the archive or with other readers’ access to it.
7. Content You Post
You keep ownership of the comments, profile text and messages you write. By posting them, you give us permission to display them in the archive and to remove them if they breach these terms. You confirm you have the right to post what you post.
8. Our Intellectual Property
Shadows of the Crucible, Dominion’s Gambit™, and all chronicles, lore, character dossiers, artwork, music, card names, card text and game systems are the intellectual property of Peter Brooks and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Viewing them grants no licence to reproduce, distribute, adapt or exploit them.
9. Ending Your Access
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where necessary to protect the archive or other readers. When access ends, your entitlement to virtual items ends with it.
10. Disclaimers
The archive is provided as is and as available. It is a work of fiction, and we do not warrant that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of error.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Peter Brooks is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and total liability arising from your use of the archive is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be waived by law.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If a dispute arises, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it directly.
13. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be updated, and the current version will always be posted here with its effective date. Continuing to use the archive after a change means you accept the updated terms.
